Founder’s Note: After-Party Gratitude!

Last month we had our Mediterranean club “party week” in the Languedoc. We have to say it was one of the best, if not the best, Princess and Bear weeks we have had since we started hosting the Mediterranean club party six years ago. The week was wonderful not just because of the super fun and interesting people from the US who joined us, but also because the wine makers whose domaines we visited inspired us all over again and reminded us why we made the decision to abandon retirement and start importing the wines we love from our Languedoc region to the US.

It’s very hard to describe it if you haven’t been to the Languedoc region. It’s completely unlike the famous wine regions of Napa or Bordeaux or Burgundy where the wines are made and presented in a much grander and more sophisticated manner, and also come with a glittering price tag. The small, independent wine makers in the Languedoc-Roussillon, on the other hand, seem as if they’ve been there for centuries and themselves grew out of the land. They are so natural and authentic and hard-working, with their hands dirty in the soil every day and their commitment steady to making wines that faithfully express their terroir and the spirit of the landscape where their small vineyards are located.

For us it was such a pleasure to be with our team and Wine Club Members and to be reminded through their enthusiasm of how much we love these unique wines and this beautiful place. It is truly a joy to be able to offer these wines in our Seattle tasting room and to our Wine Club Members in many parts of the US. We truly feel as if we are unofficial ambassadors of this unknown region and these fabulous wines that aren’t available anywhere else in the US.

It was very special for us that several of our team members from Seattle were able to join us. Ioana, Christopher and Erin all made it over here and we know that they will be full of great stories when you visit our tasting room. We were also joined by our head cheerleader Michi Suzuki. Thank you all so much for coming!

Now, the vineyards are all yellow and gold and turning to red and the vines are going to sleep for the winter. We will be returning to the US as we normally do during the winter months to visit our children and our grandchildren. We will be hosting a founders’ event at our tasting room on Wednesday, November 20. We would love to see each and every one of you there and kick off the holiday season together. We will have special wines selected for your holiday celebrations and for gifts to your colleagues and family and friends.

We send each one of you reading this our best wishes for joy and light during the dark months and hope that this letter finds you in good spirits and in good health.

Blessings to each of you and your family and friends…

With love from The Princess and The Bear 🤍✨
